Iranian American Nasim Pedrad joins Saturday Nights Live

New York, NY - Nasim Pedrad, one of the few Iranian American comedians in US, is the newest hire at Saturday Night Live (SNL). She joins the cast this fall after appearances on ER and Gilmore Girls. After graduating from UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and Television in 2003, she wrote and performed sketch comedy at the various improve shows, but it was her one woman act, Me, Myself and Iran, that brought her to the spotlight as she was selected for the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.
According her profile on the Upright Citzens Brigrade, an improve show she took part in, she "looks forward to marrying rich so she can continue to write and perform comedy." But it looks like she won't need to worry about that now that as she's joined the ranks of SNL.
Nasim's sister Nina Pedrad interned with NIAC in the spring of 2007.
