Solar Panels for Your Pants !

More solar-powered items are coming out every day, it seems. We've seen boats that run on solar power, and even plans for a Japanese space station to get its energy from solar power. But soon you'll be able to add your name to the list, because a new clothing line from Silvr Lining puts solar panels on you.

For the low, low price of $920, you can own a pair of Go Urban Cargo Pants, which boasts "fly front, low-slung drawstring waist, and two back patch pockets with button down flaps" on the company's website. Oh, and the main reason you might pay nearly $1,000 for a pair of pants: "two side cargo pockets each comes with independently functioning power supply."

The cargo pants are just one item in the new clothing line from Silvr Lining that can generate its own solar power. They won't generate enough renewable energy to power an NFL stadium, but the pocket-sized solar panels will be able to charge small electronic items like MP3 players and smart phones.

The 6 x 8 inch solar panels can be connected to one of those devices through a USB port, allowing a supply voltage of 5 volts, according to a company (PDF).

As if $920 weren't enough, if you want to charge more than one item with each solar panel, it's going to cost you another $20.

The GO Collection, as it's called, also has a hip-length Director’s Jacket, hooded Utility Vest, 3/4 length Myer’s Topper overcoat and Urban Cargo Pant. That way, as Gizmag points out, "You can be decked from head to toe in sunlight harnessing apparel."

Just make sure to take the solar panels out of your pants before you throw them in the wash.
