Rockefeller University in New York says "Ralph Steinman", co-winner of this year's Nobel Prize in medicine, has died.
It says Steinman was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer four years ago and died on Sept. 30, three days before the announcement.
Ralph Steinman, a cell biologist, was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine on Monday for his discoveries about the immune system but hours later his university said that he had been dead for three days.
